Ellen I. Houseal was born in Iowa, and had the privilege of being raised in both Iowa and North Carolina. After high school, she attended East Carolina University and enjoyed being a Pirate for the next five years while obtaining her undergraduate degree. For law school, Ellen decided to move up north to the big city and attended New England School of Law in Boston, M.A., which was the first women’s law school in the United States. Although she enjoyed her time in the big city, Ellen missed the small town country life and decided to move back home after graduation.
Ellen now resides in Elizabethtown, North Carolina, where she enjoys traveling, fishing, and spending time with her family.
